Sam Waley-Cohen, Founder and Group Chief Executive

Sam founded Portman Dental Care in 2008 with the ambition to change the international perception of poor British teeth – as seen in the film Austin Powers! By bringing together Portman Dental Care and Dentex Health, he believes we can reimagine group dentistry and wellness – and enable happier and healthier futures for patients, clinicians and colleagues. Today, Sam is responsible for our overall strategy and focus, and supports our management as well as our leadership teams Belgium, France and Norway.

Sam believes culture is the bedrock of a successful organisation, and that it eats strategy for breakfast! He's proud of the culture that has been created, where we challenge ourselves to do things better. His aim is always to encourage teams to have the curiosity to imagine a better way, continuously improve and rethink what we are doing, how we are doing them and why. 

Sam was a keen (former) amateur jump jockey – and won the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Aintree Grand National. He is also allergic to horses.
